guys, good work on the site. It looks awesome, Im a Canadian living in Almaty, and am thinkin about heading down to Karakol to do a bit of riding, but need some people to hook up with who know the mountain. Let me know whats good, where to stay, drink, ride, all the good stuff…
Hello Mark, Thanks. I heard the resorst in Almaty does not have much snow and the Chimb Bulak is closed? Well feel free to come here for some chilling, just wait for another storm coz the snow conditions at resort are not A+ (the groomed runs), but of course you can go up for some backcountry and get a good pow with some company.
Well the best way to go with some company. Of course the better way to stay is the resort rooms, but it maybe quite expensive – near 70 USD for twin room I think. But if you have a car it is not a problem to stay anywhere in the Karakol city. Otherwise you will have to use taxi or some Delicas which drive people to the resort every day. Usually it’s just a 400-500 soms one way for a single car, but delica usually take 7 people.
I can recommend you a few guesthouses in the city for 400-1000 soms/night including breakfast.
The nice places to have dinner are 2 cafes at one street in the center – the Fakir and the Stealth.
Let me know when you are going to come here, we may meet at the resort or in K.
