Big Mountain Time

Well it is not a secret that US got the most hot slopes at resorts, terrain parks and so on…

Luckily the group of Kyrgyz kids got an unbelievable present from the US Embassy. The group of 10 kids (5 from Osh, and 5 from other areas of the country) will go to US to hit the most adorable resorts!

Currently this kids are getting some snowboarding lessons at Ak-Tash hotel and ski resort near Bishkek city. The group leaving country in the end of February.

My friend Hose (360.kg team) got an offer to be the head of this group and take a look over this kids in US. Well we are really glad that some charity happening in this way and wish those kids and Hose a nice trip Get boardbagged guys!

Well guys. That is it – we have finished most part of the work building own houses using containers for past 6+ months. Now it is time to move to our spot near Karakol city and enjoy the wild life – the snow, the wind and the peaceful views. Some photos inside.

Skiing and snowboarding at Kyrgyzstan, Karakol

One of the best ski resorts of Kyrgyzstan can be found while driving around Issyk-Kul lake. Karakol ski resort is the most preferable and large ski resort in the Central Asia. It’s altitude is 2300m and it is 7 km from Karakol city. The ski resort performs with a few chair lifts and runs of different levels of complexity what is good as for the professionals as for the beginners. The season starts in November and lasts until April. Those who prefer “freeride” or cross country rather than well groomed and predictable trials can range across the vast expanses of snowy slopes.

Karakol resort also performs with a terrain park (specially for those ones who are fond of freestyle) build in 2009/2010 season. The terrain park will be upgraded and a bit changed for the jib lines for the upcoming 2010/2011 season.

• Routes: beginner, intermediate, advanced, extreme
• Vertical drop: 792m

Yeah! Some of my pals has been waiting for this to be happened. It takes some time to cut the standard Burton ICS plates to meet different non-burton bindings plate radius. At this moment some huge binding manufacturers are making their own ICS adapters (EST plates) so now you can easily screw any of your binding to your Burton ICS snowboard.

This season you can easily grab such EST ICS base plate adapter from Flow and use it with some of their bindings series. Please be careful before purchasing it as it is not compatible with all of the bindings from FLOW, consult with your hardware dealer. Well, the spring is here. It’s warm, but it is still much snow at Karakol ski resort and we had a good riding weekend a few days ago there.

The official resort news says that 28th of March is the official season end. There will be some kind of lottery this day. The lucky ski pass number owner will get a prize in 40 000 soms (WOW!). The resort will be opened till 5th of April.

More of all we had a conversation with main resort manager and I suppose there will be some kind of slalom contest between snowboard and ski teams (not crossing) this day.
